The National Trust’s Castle Drogo shows Cod Steaks innovative approach to interpretation design and experiential environments and installations. A unique visitor experience was created that reinvigorated stories from its past through a series of sculptural exhibits. Stories were focused on the people who not only lived there, but helped make the castle come into being.
Designs included a replica model of a castle built from tea chests, the reconstruction of an early 20th century building site, a giant postcard diorama theatre, a World War II wall sculpture and a series of suspended letters that float in and around the spaces reciting first hand stories being told. Audio soundscapes added an atmospheric soundscape which took visitors from one zone to the next.
The whole project from the brief response through to design, engineering, build and installation was carried out by Cod Steaks. Enabling us to keep a close eye on project details and quality throughout.
