'Alien' - full scale replica

They say you should never meet your heroes. Maybe in this case that should read anti-heroes. With that in mind we were both enthused and a little nervous at winning the commission to create Sir Ridley Scott's ultimate 'baddy'.

Commissioned for the Sir Ridley Scott: Past, Present & Future Visionary exhibition, the two metre high static exhibit was the centrepiece to the Alien homage zone. The likelihood of being under the scrutiny of savvy Scott fans put real pressure on the makers to ensure details were correct and present. From the six fingered hands to that praying mantis mouth - all were impeccably researched and recreated.

Novelist and television presenter David Baddiel (pictured) was one of the first to view the replica at the exhibition’s official opening. Clearly impressed by what he saw, he enquired if it was ‘the real thing’ from the film, before insisting on the now mandatory selfie.

The question we get asked the most about this project is - what was it like to make? Our answer – one of the most enjoyable projects we’ve ever done.

"As part of an exhibition about Sir Ridley Scott, our client wanted an exact full-size replica of the creature from the movie 'Alien' and Cod Steaks took up the challenge. They produced and adhered to a project schedule, keeping us informed every step of the way with emails, telephone calls and photographs showing progress on a weekly basis. Delivered exactly on time, the detail and quality of the finished replica exceeded everyone's expectations. Cod Steaks were a pleasure to work with, from start to finish."
